Jimenez: Intra-Team Brazilian Title Fight “No Concern”

Sergio Jimenez not too concerned by being in eTROPHY title flight with teammate Caca Bueno…

Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY championship contender Sergio Jimenez says that he and his teammate and title rival Caca Bueno will continue to work in a “respectful way” in New York City this weekend.

Jaguar Brazil Racing’s Jimenez leads the points standings heading in to this weekend’s double-header finale by six points from Rahal Letterman Lanigan Jaguar driver Bryan Sellers.

He has has taken a single victories in the first-ever season of the Jaguar I-PACE eTROPHY with a win at the Rome round in April. He has also notched up three second place classifications at Ad Diriyah, Monaco and Berlin.

A further ten points back from Sellers is Jimenez’s teammate Bueno who has gained some title momentum after back-to-back victories at the last two events in Monaco and Berlin.

“Both of us are fighting for the title and Caca is a little bit behind but as we have seen at Monaco and Berlin he is super strong and hard to beat,” Jimenez told e-racing365.

“But I am in a good position and if as an example he wins both races and I finish second then I am the champion.

“We have worked as a team all season and we speak to each other and share in a good and respectful way.

“I expect this to continue, I know it will and there is no concern. It is good this way because we always are pushing and nothing is given easy.”

Jimenez also said that other drivers will be just as much as a threat as his stablemate Bueno as they all fight for the first ever all-electric SUV title.

“We have other guys like Bryan and Simon [Evans] as possible champions too so we will not just be watching each other,” he said.

“We have to just focus and do what we achieved in the last two races and push for 1-2 results.

“We need to learn the New York track as fast as we can and how the tires manage on the surface which has been crucial at a lot of races so far.”
